When I was a child, [1] I frequently [2] played parchís with my family, but my favorite [3] board game was chess. I used to play chess all the time. [1] - A comma is customary when a modifying phrase comes before the main clause. [2] - Adverbs of frequency usually go directly before the verb. If you have a copy of the excellent book English Grammar in Use by Murphy, consult unit 110 (Word order 2: Adverbs with the verb). [3] - Adjectives usually go before the noun. See English Grammar in Use Unit 99 (Adjectives: a nice new house, you look tired).
