Asking for help. What are the differences among these words? Are they similar ? difficult, hard, tough, tricky, challenging

Hi Summer, All of these words are synonyms, so you could use them interchangeably. That being said, I would consider "challenging" and "difficult" to be the most academic choices, with "hard" and "tricky" being the most elementary (for example, I would choose one of the first two to use in a formal email). I hope this was helpful!
