First of all, it’s one of the subjects at secondary school. But at that time there was only textbook, no audio, no video, no speaking English people. Even the textbook was also limited. That’s why almost students could not speak a word after learning English in a long period of time. Until I graduated and got a job that’s needed this language I forced myself to learn it again so that I could work well. Afterward I move to another city then I left that job and look for a new one which is not required English. But I sometimes still engage with English stuffs like movies, music, podcasts for relaxing

we only had a textbook
There was no audio, no videos and no native English speaking people.
Even the textbook was limited. That’s why almost students could not speak a word
after learning English for a long period of time.
When I graduated and got a job
that required this language - I forced myself to learn it again (properly) so that I could
work well.
Afterwards I moved to another city, then I left that job and looked for a
new one where English was not required, although, I sometimes still enjoy doing stuff in English - like watching films, listening to music, and listening to podcasts, in English, to relax.
You shouldn't start a written sentence with 'but'.
