Of course, a bad teaching experience does not help you. A competent English tutor can help. Language partners and groups can be helpful too. Daniel, in my experience as one learning Spanish, a native speaker is such a valuable resource. But yes, it is hard to find ones who are not too busy already. I kept a positive attitude and eventually found a few on italki. You know what you want! If the teacher-student relationship is not helping you then move on. Search until you find out what helps you in particular. ¡ Buena suerte!
