Tourist Entry Fees in China It is advisable for Chinese historical interest sites to charge higher during peak travel seasons, among a reasonable limits, for the entry fees. Pragmatically and economicly speaking, higher entry fee is needed to play a role as dispersal, and extra margins, serving for the site maintenance work. People in China have a passion for rambling within the country during public holidays, which resultantly turn out to be peak travel seasons. What’s more should be respected is the large moving clusters, along with trasport, accommodation and environmental problems. Thereby, ideally higher charges for entries will allocate a certain amount of tourists to weekdays, for the lower charges will save their travel expenditure. In order to realize the allocation, related industries and governments should bear the responsibility to form an updated system, provide and adertise tourists information concerning the varified entry fees and corresponding periods. As far as the historical interests are concerned, heavy tourist volumn will be controled through higher entry fees, but also, extra margins from high revenues can be commited to the maintenance work for historical interest sites. Quite a few of those ancient sites in China are listed as cultural heritages in the world, from and for which the overloaded tourism is prevented and regular repairing is required. Thus extra margins, in a sense, are regarded as tourists’ devotion to retain the country’s heritage properties. However, the key of this issue of entry fee charging lies in the scale of the higher part, which is supposed to be acceptable. For instance, tourists surely will scowl at a normally 20-yuan ticket to be charged at the price of 200 yuan or even higher. Thereof, an acceptable ratio of the extra charges, in accordance with both of the consumers and the sites’ values, need to be determined by related industries and gorvenments. In summary, higher charges for entry to historical interest sites in China are indispensable, for varied prices manage to regulate the demands. Moreover protection work is a must. Nevertheless, work of measuring a reasonable scale of extra charges still lies ahead.
