Is Hinidi the only language in India....???
There is a huge misconception invariably all the non-indians have, that there is only one language in India that is Hindi, and there is only one film industry in India that is B’wood. But it might come as an intresting fact to know that, there are 22 languages in India which are officially recognized and approved by the government of India and if we have to account for the total number of languages in India despite their recognition and approval status, there are more than 150 languages in India, according to the census report in the year of 2001. Moreover, if we dig some four decades back in the history of India, prepare for a shock, there were 1652 languages were in use in India, as per the census report in 1961. And Hindi is simply one of them. There are two major languages in India, Sanscrit and Tamil, which are said to have given birth to the rest of the languages in India, including Hindi. However, sanscrit is not as wide-prevalent as it used to be before. But Tamil is still very much alive than Sanscrit and spoken widely across the nation, specifically in the southern part. There are only four languages in India which have the Classical Language status including Sanscrit and Tamil, and surprisingly, Hindi is not of them. The only significance that Hindi has is, it is the most-spoken language in India. So when you learn about India, do not limit yourself to Hindi in the area of languages, there are several other languages awaiting to surprise you. And about the rest of the woods that India has apart from Bollywood, well, I'll share some info on that later when I have time :). BTW, I am from the state called Tamilnadu in India and I am proud to say that Tamilnadu is the only state where Hindi has not dominated the native language yet and 98% of people in Tamilnadu have absouletly no idea in Hindi :D. This post was not meant to be here as there was a discussion going over India and Hindi and due to character limitation in Italki comment section, I could not post this there. Nevertheless, I beleive this post has some information that you might want to know and could be useful for you.
