Please let me allow to answer this question though no one replied for a long time ago. Generally おもてなしをする is used to customers in the hotel, restaurant or somewhere. Ex.) オリジナルメニューでおもてなしをする。心をこめておもてなしをする。In our daily life, we say もてなす. Ex.) 家に友人をよんで手作り料理でもてなす。I hope it was helpful.
