The Popular Stories About Grave Robbery
In recent years, the stories about grave robbery have become popular.
It is said the original one is Gui Chui Deng(鬼吹灯), which means "The candle blown out by the ghost" in English. In this story, it is said that a grave robber should light a candle and put it near the entrance of the grave room tomb, when he/she they got into it, for since the grave had been sealed for so many years that there might be some harmful gas in it, or because the grave was built with many traps, such as poison gas, to protect the corpse and its treasures against the grave robbers. Also the flame of the candle could notice warn them of the an emergency situation, when some other weird things happen, such as the corpse, sometimes the owner of the grave, transforming to a zombie as some apparatus triggered. It is said in the story that if the flame went out, the grave robbers had to give up the mission and goet out of the grave room, or they would lose their lives.
Although the story sounds horrifying, in fact, it is more like an adventure story and is very interesting. Gui Chui Deng(鬼吹灯) was serialized on the internet, so if you are interested in it, you can easily find it on line. There is a published version, two manga versions, and maybe next year a movie version of the story, too. It is really a long story and I haven't finished reading it. Maybe someday I will get some spare time to finish it.
BTW, the writer of Gui Chui Deng was not a professional writer. It is said that he began writing the story in order to make his girlfriend happy, which is so romantic, isn't it? (^_^)[1]
Another famous one is Dao Mu Bi Ji(盗墓笔记), Grave Robbery Diary. I will talk about it next time.
Things in red - errors.
Things in green - suggestions.
Things in blue - stronger suggestions. The original is not natural.
[1]Pictures like this seem to be a chinese fashion, and are not common in western writing.
