Θεοί στέργονσι τους ἄντρπους

Isablel, this is probably mispelled; my guess is it says: Θεοί στέργουσι τους ανθρώπους

Meaning: Gods love people

Εν τη ἀγορᾷ εἰσιν οικιαι.

There are houses at the marketplace

ποιητης καλας ἐπιστολάς γράφει

the poet writes good letters

I don't agree with the translation provided by Vivid (but well done for the effort), because the two first sentences seem to be unrelated to one another, while καλας (=good) in the third sentence refers to επιστολές (=letters) and is NOT the name of the poet.

Also be aware that (I suppose you know it already but still..) this is ancient and not modern Greek

Dear Isabel,

It is amost impossible to learn a language without a dictionary.

Also Google translate is not enough.

My Greek is still very bad, but I think that the translation is:

The gods do agree that the humans

have houses on the market,

The poet Kalas writes letters

This sounds pretty silly but I think that you could guess from the contaxt what has been meant with these three lines. I suppose that it is an epigram with a deeper meaning, like haiku's in Japanese.

Good luck with your Greek language.

Maybe you could find at lexicolologos a nice language course:
