IELTS letter #1 Birthday party invitation

Task:

You are studying English at a private language school attended by many international students. You are planning a surprise birthday party for a friend which has been particularly sad and homesick.
Write to another classmate and invite him/her to the party.
-explain the reason for the party
-date and time
-suggest what the classmate should bring

What you wrote is not mostly wrong but is too formal and stiff. However, the task is that you are writing an invitation to your classmates, your friends. You are not writing as the Queen of England requesting their presence to a formal gala. The changes are a reflection of your warmth and sincerity.  The exercise is to test how you express yourself in an informal setting.  If you are writing for a formal situation, then this correction is not appropriate.

Letter:

Dear Dasha,

I am sorry I have not written for a very long time. I am writing to invite you to Peter's birthday party. Sorry for not writing a long time. How about going to Peter's birthday party?"

I believe you know still remember Peter him, the guy with whom we spent last Thanksgiving with. He has turned 25 last Thursday and he told mefound out that he has never celebrated his birthdays before. Since it is his mini anniversaryanother milestone in his life, I decided to prepare something special for him. It is going to became up with a nifty idea of having a modest party outside with a barbeque party.  There will be with andplenty of games and  in the fresh air will do us good.

This is what I had in mind:

1. All our classmates and I will meet in school at 6pm, next Saturday, 23 Oct. However, those cannot make it, the address is Lake street 1, 221

2. We shall prepare everything for the surprise: balloons, games, food, drinks etc.

3. Peter is going to be at won't be back from gym until 7pm after his gym.

4. Around 7 o'clock we start celebrating The celebration starts the moment he steps in!

Gifts are not compulsory mandatory but if you have a willing and money penny to spare, Peter will be over the moon[too strong, implying that he wants the gifts!] most appreciative and delighted. Please bring your favorite games to share in the fun for huge companies in case you have any. I hope am sure that it will be a fascinating most enjoyable and unforgettable evening day. [You have already specified the time at 7pm]

Can't wait! to See you there!

Best wishes, Max
