should dangerous sports be banned? Topic: Some people think that dangerous sports should be banned, but others think the people should have freedom to choose sports activities. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Participating in some dangerous and breathtaking sports is becoming more and more prevalent in this day and age. Some suggest that these activities should be prohibited whereas others disagree. In my essay, I will analyze both views and present my opinion. There is no doubt that individuals have their rights to choose what sports they are willing to take part in. Many high-risk sports attract numerous people, especially the young generation. If these activities are banned one day, people will feel like they lose their freedom, which is detrimental to their further development as well as satisfaction for governments. Secondly, a large number of people treat these kinds of sports as an effective method to relieve pressures, since they are able to scream out during the process. It is well known that competition is increasingly fierce nowadays, thus keeping such exciting activities has significant meanings even though most of them are extremely dangerous. Last but not least, some of these dangerous sports are part of local tourist attractions, such as some entertaining items in amusement parks as well as bungee jumping in coastal regions. The development of such sports is beneficial to the native tourism industry, which can raise their people’s standards of living. However, while speak highly of dangerous activities’ merits, their drawbacks should not be neglected. For one thing, doing such exercises is likely to create some diseases for instance heart disease. Some of the young people are eager to try new things regardless of their health conditions, which possibly makes them at risk after these sports. As a result, governments are responsible for limiting those high-risk activities. For another, there is a lot of money spent on maintaining facilities every year. Therefore, if these sports are banned, there will be vast amounts of money saved to invest in other fields of a society. As far as I am concerned, the benefits of dangerous sports outweigh its shortcomings. Consequently, it is wise to develop such activities at the same time enhance the security of them.

I agree with you, Laura. We should respect each person's choice. There is nothing wrong for them to persue what they think is correct.

I think though some sports can be so dangerous, they shouldn't be banned because, as you've already said, everyone's free to do what they want to do as long as it doesn't prejudice other people. We have to remember also that there are some pretty dangerous professions, like firefighters, police officers, those people who wash windows of tall buildings etc. that are so important jobs that don't can simply be banned. Well this is what I find about that, by the way, congrats for your great English... and sorry for my writing and grammar mistakes. ;)
