"The Language Hacking Guide"
Today I read a very interesting book about language learning: "The Language Hacking Guide", by Benny Lewis. The author presents tips for immersing yourself in a language. I found Italki from this book. The book's top tip is about the learner adopting a positive attitude in relation to the language. I was always worried about my mistakes in conversations. So I spoke with few people in English or another language than was not my native language. The author proposes that people can learn by speaking from day one. You need not wait to master all grammar rules before practice the language talking with a native speaker or another learner. According to the author, the sense of perfectionism can paralyse, and people never begin commnicating with others. To focus on the communicative function of language, the author advises: to learn to speak, you have to speak immediately. Of course you make a huge amount of mistakes. But mistakes are part of learning. The author affirms, "rather than mistakes being the walls holding you back from speaking, they are simply bends in the road you must follow if you want to continue on your path". Mistake can be a very useful tool for showing you what you need to work on.
Agreed!
