Today is the Lantern Festival : Feb 17, 2011
In lunar Calender, today is the fifteenth day of the new year, we celebrate it as the Lantern Festival. Tonight will be the first full-moon night of 2011.
What will chinese people do in this festival? We eat YuanXiao at night, YuanXiao is a kind of sweet dumplings, it is made of glutinous rice and has some stuffing as black sesame, sweet bean paste, peanut and so on. If you like to eat sweet food, you'll like it. YuanXiao is round just like the full-moon, so we eat it to celebrate the family reunion and happiness.
Besides eat some special food, we have more traditional customs: enjoy beautiful lanterns and the dragon dance. There are so many love storys happened when people enjoying the beautiful lanterns, because romatic atmosphere will made young people fall in love at the first sight.
