How to do I improve my pronunciation?
I have learned about 5000 Englishi words, maybe even more than that. I know the their general meanings of these words (this sentence is not wrong, but you should avoid repeating yourself to sound more natural). I learned most of the words and expressions through doing a lot of reading. But the most difficult thing for me is that I can't pronounce (careful of the spelling difference between pronunciation and pronounce) them correctly , I am not sure if I have pronounced them correctly, especially the stress of some words.
I want to improve by pronounciation by talking with some native speakers, would you mind helping me by chatting with me online through the Internet? Many people in China use softwares such as Wechat微信 or QQ to communicate with others. Do you also use something like these?
Hi Alicia! Chatting with native speakers (or even in English with other Chinese) is the best way to improve your fluency. Talking with native speakers will probably help your pronunciation too, but you can definitely practice by yourself too.
Here's an idea: download a programme that can slow down a recording. The one I use is called VLC, it's very easy to use and you can download a Chinese version on Baidu. Then find a recording of a native speaker talking. Write down what they are saying (this is great for your listening and writing practice too!). Finally, listen back to the recording with headphones and read the text aloud, recording yourself.
Then listen back to yourself speak and compare with the recording of the native speaker. What differences can you hear?
So again:
1. Download VLC media player (or something similar)
2. Find a recording of a native speaker
3. Slow down the recording so that it's easier for you
4. Write down what they are saying
5. Now read the text aloud while listening to the speaker. Try to say everything EXACTLY like the native speaker!
6. Listen back to yourself. Where did you make mistakes?
I hope this helps!

Your writting is really good, well no wonder haha :), most people here use "Skype" to communicate, if you like we can chat together to get your pronunciation up there! :p
