College is better away from your home town? When I was applying for college I needed to choose if I would prefer to stay at my parent’s, and finding a college at my home town; or if I would try to live on my own in a different city. Even though I didn’t have much understand about how this experience in my life it would be, or how it would change me, I decided to take the risk and live by myself for the first time. Universities in Brazil don’t offer a campus dormitory, so students that come from another parts of the country need to find a way to provide for themselves. This is a complete adult experience, because students have to figure it out how to support themselves in a very young age, while their studies are demanding a lot of them already, Most students find a roommate, which alone teaches them a lot. It teaches them, among a lot of things, how to live with a non related person, how boundaries can be different between people, and to respect this differences. It teaches how to make a budged plan to maintain the house, how to keep everything working properly, by keeping the house cleaned, the refrigerator full, and the bills paid off. All of this without forgetting about health, and your mental sanity to continue being good at school. With this experience, students learn the value of partnership, and how to improve their own. They also turned more unselfish, courageous and have the tendency to not depend on anybody to get things done. I don’t believe that students would learn all of this lessons if they weren’t have to do it. Staying at your parent’s house doesn’t usually gets people out of their comfort zone. And when they really need to face life, they would be less prepared.

*Do you mean a "budget" for their finances?

** What do you mean by "their own"? Could you be more specific?

Great work! Your writing is really good and you also picked a really interesting topic to write on! I enjoyed reading it and hearing about student's experiences in Brazil. I only made simple corrections to help the sentences flow a bit better. Just one suggestion for you: don't be afraid be be more specific with your writing. Try not to use "it" and "things". It will help to make your sentences sound more like statements and more convincing to the reader.

I've lately moved to another city for studies and I perfectly understand your point of view! It's a completely new start and you can't no longer be under the "protection" of your parents.
