It is important to keep your old friends than it is to make new friends
Friendship plays an important role in our life. Friends provide emotional support and connection with others. Therefore, I consider that to keep old friends and to make new friends are equally important, and these two options don's against to each one.
First, old friends are significant for me because they provide more emotional support. Old friends knew the context of my life stories. Hence, I don't need to explain a lot when struggle situation happens. I can feel the sense of secure and make my temper get calm just by sharing my feeling with them. For example, I had a close friend, Sarah, who knew me for 10 years. Every time I got in blue mood, she was the first person I wanted to talk to. Sarah made me feel better all the time by listening to me and show her empathy. Then, we talked about the old-day, funny stories. Her accompany meant a lot to me, I couldn't imagine if my life without her.
Second, New friends bring new experiences that riches the life. Everyone needs tunnel to get new information and to experience new challenge, and friends are the key to reach these new stuff. For instant, when I was in the colleague, I joining variety clubs, so that I could meet different aspects of people. Although I had classmates who knew each other for 2 years, the friends who I made in clubs always brought new inspirations and stimulate me to think out of the boxes. As much more friends I made, as wider perspectives I have.
In sum, no matter Old friends or new friends are equally important for me. They play different functions and role in my life.
