Welcome to The Central Moscow Racecourse
The Central Moscow Racecourse is one of the biggest courses in Russia, it is slightly less in size than those in Rostov, Krasnodar and Kazan. The course founded in 1834 the oldest one in Russia and the first course for harness racing in the world. It is a state testing and scientific ground and a development base for the Scientific Research Institute of Horse Breeding of Russia.
The course is located at number 22 of Begovaya Street, the closest metro station is “Begovaya”. At the present time racings for horses of five breeds are held in the course every weekend.
The course hosts the biggest and the most expensive harness racing stakes in the country, the main of those are: The Grate National Stakes (The Derby), The Grate Open Stakes for fillies, The Anilin Stakes, The Nasibov Cup, The Jockey Club Stakes and many other.
Harness racing is held in the course all year round, without interruption. About 1000 trotters are tested annually, these are Russian trotters, Orlov trotters, American trotters and French trotters, bred in stud farms of Russia, Ukraine and also brought from France. . The course also hosts harness racing under the sponsorship of Commonwealth Trotting Association of France (“Days of France”), European and national horse-racers championships, winter and summer competitions of troikas (three horses harnessed abreast).
Flat racings are held annually from May to September on the flat racing track of the course. Thoroughbreds and Arabian horses bred in different Russian stud farms and foreign purchased are tested regularly in the course. The Russian Argamak Stakes for Akhalteke horses was held two years running midway through the summer season. Not every year but often the course holds The President of Russian Federation Stakes for Thoroughbreds including those from other countries. Despite the course of Pyatigorsk being the racecourse which holds the main stakes for Arabian horses, the best horses of Arabian breed annually take part in the racing in the Moscow course.
In addition to its main purpose which is racing for horses of different breeds, other equestrian events such as showjumping, dressage and polo tournaments and demonstration of horses of different breeds are held on the jumping field in the centre of the course. Camel, dog and pony racing, competitions of dogsleds, shows of trained horses and pony and performances of masters of horseback stunts are held in between the competitions for entertainment of the audience.

Помимо основного назначения Московского ипподрома, как испытания лошадей различных пород на резвость и выносливость, на конкурном поле ЦМИ, расположенном в центре, проводятся другие конно-спортивные мероприятия: конкур, выездка, соревнования по конному поло, ринг-выводки породистых лошадей. Для развлечения публики в промежутках между соревнованиями лошадей на ЦМИ изредка проводят скачки на верблюдах, собачьи бега, гонки на собачьих упряжках, соревнования на пони, выступления дрессированных лошадей и пони, а также выступления мастеров джигитовки.

На скаковой дорожке московского ипподрома ежегодно с мая по сентябрь проходят испытания лошадей скаковых пород. Регулярно проходят испытания лошади чистокровной и арабской пород, выращенные в различных конных заводах России, а также купленные за рубежом. Два года подряд в середине летнего сезона состоялся розыгрыш приза «Русский аргамак» — для лошадей ахалтекинской породы. На Московском ипподроме разыгрываются основные и самые дорогостоящие призы для чистокровных верховых лошадей — «Большой Всероссийский приз (Дерби)», приз «Анилина», «Кубок Н. Н. Насибова», приз «Жокей-Клуба», приз «Министра сельского хозяйства РФ» и другие. Не ежегодно, но часто на московском ипподроме проходит розыгрыш приза «Президента РФ» для лошадей чистокровной верховой породы, для участия в котором привозят лошадей, выступающих в других странах. Несмотря на то, что главные призы для арабских лошадей разыгрываются на ипподроме г. Пятигорска, на ЦМИ ежегодно выступают лучшие представители арабской породы.

На Московском ипподроме это русские рысаки, орловские рысаки, американские рысаки, и французские рысаки выведенные в конных заводах России, Украины, а также привезенные из Франции. На Центральном Московском Ипподроме разыгрываются главные и самые дорогостоящие в стране призы для рысаков. Среди них основными являются Большой Всероссийский приз (Дерби), Всероссийский приз «Барса», приз «Элиты», приз «Пиона», «Большой Открытый» приз для кобыл, приз имени «Центрального Московского импподрома» и многие другие. Также на ЦМИ проходит розыгрыш призов, спонсором которых выступает Французская рысистая ассоциация («Дни Франции»), европейские и российские чемпионаты наездников, зимние и летние соревнования троек.
