Literal meaning Wie heißt du? Hello I’m starting the most basic level of German, and I’d like to know the literal meaning of the frase ´wie heißt du‘ I know that to say “what is your name” would be “was ist dein Name“ if we translated from English to German but I want to know translated from German to English instead the actual meaning of the frase and also the word heißt. Thank you in advance

I'm not a native speaker, but I have been studying German for quite a while. The literal translation of "Wie heißt du?" is "How are you called?".
