"node" is a conjunction, such as "so" or "so that." : I was feeling hungry, so I made myself a sandwich. : He lowered his voice so Doris couldn't hear. : There are no buses, so you'll have to walk. : The gravestones were covered with moss so that it was impossible to read the names on them. (CF : http://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/so_2 ) ..... ..... "I got this for you." => "Watashi wa anata 'no tameni' kore wo motte kita." But, I usually say, "Kore wo douzo." ..... "I went to the store for some bread." => "Watashi wa pan wo kau 'tameni' sono mise ni itta." But I usually say, "Pan wo kaini itta." ..... "This is for being such a great friend to me." => "Kore wa saikou no tomodachi de iru 'tame' desu." Sorry, I wish I could express better in Japanese about this. (^_^;) ..... "Thank you for helping me." => "Watashi wo tasukete kureta 'kotoni' kansya shimasu." But, I usually say, "Tasukete kurete arigatou."

"node" to... Pan (na?)node, mise wa ikimashita. It was a good answer, but I'm still confused.

in my opinion,, your examples of "for" mainly indicates the "purpose". "node" is often used for "reason" like "(sentence A)~nanode, (sentence B)". that means "(sentence A), that's why (sentence B)". Hope this is helpful. cheers~
