Spanish say " Yo friego los platos", people may understand you in Latin America but as Hairo said, here verb Fregar colloquially means to bother someone.
greetings!!

It's a not frego, Its friego.
Aparte de eso, ambas están bien :P, Aunque de hecho no sé donde usen "fregar".
Usually in most countries "fregar" means "to bother/annoy etc" in colloquial speech.
Yo lavo los platos ( chile.. ecuador.. argentina etc )
Yo lavo los trastes ( mexico )
Yo lavo la losa ( colombia )

Puedes utilizar los dos:
fregar los platos
o
lavar los platos
