Do you know websites where I can learn kanji? I'm looking to learn them by level, as japanese students do. I imagine it is simpler this way than beginning with every random kanji I encounter. Or maybe I should concentrate on the kanji required for the JLPT (though I am not currently planning on taking the test)? Your thoughts? The websites I currently have are : http://www.kanjisite.com/ With multiple kanji batch for JLPT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gakunenbetsu_kanji_hait%C5%8Dhy%C5%8D For japanese student kanji http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C5%8Dy%C5%8D_kanji Joyo kanji

Everyone has a different way of learning things. I can tell you what I do; that may or may not work for you. What I learn best is structure and relationships, so after some false starts I settled on learning Kanji as I encounter them (so I already can associate a meaning to them), and also breaking up Kanji into radicals. I started with http://kanjidamage.com/, but gave up after some time because I didn't know enough Japanese back then. Maybe I should revisit it now. I use http://jisho.org/ to lookup Kanji and http://www.zhongwen.com/ to figure out the reason why this particular combination of radicals his that meaning, if I can't guess it. Sometimes I make up little stories, e.g. 近 is as far as I can throw an axe 斤 from some way ⻌: not very far :-). That works fine so far for the meaning and KUN-readings, for the ON-readings (which all sound very similar to me) I guess I should start making Anki cards, but I've been too lazy up too now ... YMMV, of course.

There are no websites for learning Kanji. There is one for REVISING the kanji after learning. 1. Get the book: Heisig, Remembering the Kanji. 2. Go to: http://kanji.koohii.com/ for all you revision practice.
