For example (and maybe an inappropriate one), a parent might hit a child as a means of discipline. (Some people do not approve of corporal punishment.) This hitting should never be done in anger. "Strike" suggests to me an increased level of severity. The word is sometimes associated with domestic violence, as is "batter". "Beat" to me indicates repeated blows and physical damage, and therefore even more severe. I hope this helps. I regret that my Spanish is insufficient to explain this nuance.

Hi. These terms are very similar in meaning. They are all actions resulting in an attack. If we only use the context of a fight between people, you could explain the differences like so: To strike someone = to hit someone. You can always exchange the word strike and hit in a sentence, and it will not change the meaning of the sentence. Perhaps to "strike" is a stronger word. Aslo, perhaps it is more literary, it could be chosen over to "hit" when telling a story. To beat someone = to give someone a beating. This is an act of repeated violence against someone that results in injury. In the context of a competition, team A beat team B, it means team A won. J.

I don't have the fluency to explain this to you in Spanish, but I hope this helps. To hit and to strike are basically the same thing. I couldn't find the right words to define "hit" or "strike", so I'm going to use this definition: To hit: "Hit may mean to strike someone or something to cause physical harm." Also: "To bring one's hand or a tool or weapon into contact with (someone or something) quickly and forcefully." To punch is to hit with a fist. To beat is to repeatedly hit or strike someone (with the fists, usually).

Examples: to HIT with the fist to STRIKE (to score a goal) to BEAT someone (in a game) I hope I could help you a bit, and I hope it's correct, I'm not a native speaker :) Regards
