What does a "native speaker" mean? I'm a bit confused on what to put on my profile. I've been speaking English my whole life, but I'm not entirely sure if I should call myself a native speaker since the official language in my country is Filipino. Most of the people here are bilingual though.

If you have spoken English in your home since childhood - you are a native speaker. If you spoke 2 languages in your home since childhood - you are bilingual (and I envy you).

I read from an almanac that it is not. (And I'm shocked.)

Isn't English also the official language in your country?
