In the United States, after XXL (extra extra large), we usually start numbering as 3XL, 4XL, etc. We do not usually say "3XL" instead we just say "3X". Sometimes, certain manufacturers even use "1XL" and "2XL" instead of "XL" and "XXL". When we see clothes numbered this way, we similarly say "1X" and "2X". There are instances where you will see XXXL and aaiiiiiiiii is correct, we say "triple extra large" or "3XL". All of these answers are personal preferences which might vary by locality within the USA, so depending on where you live, you could hear XXXL as 3X, triple X, triple XL or some might say XXXL. Who knew what to call clothes sizes could be so complicated??
