dicard means to get rid of something that is no more useful.
abandon means to give up of something or to leave a place or somebody.
Discard usually refers to things. Abandon can refer to things, places or a person.

Discard is when you don't want something any more and you throw it into the trash. Abandon is when you leave something behind and you go ahead without it; maybe you really want it but you must leave it behind. That was a good question. How is your speaking and listening? My Skype: brian.madden4
