A "noob" (also no0b) is a new person to a forum or online community. It's short for "newbie", and suggests the person is inexperienced or naive. Now it's used to refer to any newcomer, online or off.

noob is slang that comes from newbie. Newbie is someone he is a beginner at doing something. Noob is also often used to insult someone, not always just because they are beginners. The word comes from online gaming, but is also being used on chats now and a few people use it in the real world too. It can also be said friendly to tease some one :)
