Who can tell me the meaning of "take a beat"? Thanks a lot!
There are some lines of "The Vampire Diary" .
Katherine: I'm just a girl looking for a partner in crime. Feel like hitting the road? Getting the hell out of dodge?
Damon: Impeccable timing. I was told I need to take a beat.
Katherine: Is that a yes? I'll drive.
I don't get the phrase "take a beat". Who can help me explain it? Thanks!
