what does "settle down" mean? what does "settle down" mean? this is the context. Speaking during the same talk show, TV personality Ayu Dewi said that she was up for marriage but was sure that she did not want to give up her career and her social life after settling down.

In American English and in this context, "settling down" refers to getting married. "Settling down" can mean to live a more ordered life.

It´s a phrasal verb, it means 1. To begin living a stable and orderly life, 2.To became calm and composed. I learned it, many years ago, from Cat Steven´s song "Father and son": Find a girl,settle down, If you want you can marry....

well I think this means settle into a position, usually on a surface or ground become settled or established and stable in one's residence or life style become quiet or calm, especially after a state of agitation

Settle down here would mean "after marriage" (to tell you the truth i don´t know how to explain it), she talk about her social life because after marriage her life it´s going to be less... social cuz marriage implies responsibilities.
