Do Turkish men generally ask you to marry them and go live in Turkey with them? I am an American.

A traditional Turkish man likes family life and wants to have a wife and 2 or 3 children. Turkish traditional culture suggests marriage for adults instead of living together without marriage. It can't be surprising if you get marriage offer from a Turkish man.
As for the second part of your question, living in Turkey is better than living in the US considering the safety, stable life, health insurance, food , culture, climate and  so on.
Anyway, in my opinion, you should consider the marriage with him and moving to Turkey if you like him and if he seem a good person for you. :)
