A palavra "ligar" pode significar "to turn on" (Eu estou ligando a tv) e também "to call" (Eu vou te ligar) ??

Isso mesmo. Também pode significar importar-se com alguma coisa (to care about something)
Eu não ligo para os seus problemas (I don't care about your problems)
Eu não me importo com os seus problemas (I don't care about your problems)
