Anyone know a good first books for learning chinese, such as children's storybook?
Does a website exist for downloading such stories as pdf? Hanzi, pinyin, and english translation included would be great...

I've never been a big fan of the "learn a language using children storybooks" concept.
Regarding Hanzi pinyin and english translations this might help you.
If you have an android phone/ iphone/ ipad/ ipod touch you can download the pleco dictionary. it's got a reader program attached to it which allows you to read lots of chinese texts (books,websites, news articles etc). if you are stuck on a word you select that word and an info bubble pops up giving that word's pinyin and english translation.

You'd better buy a real book, the international sstudents's uaually learn from book step by step. pinyin is very improtant.
