Why do American girls do this?
Recently, I started school, but one girl named Madison, a nerd like myself, keeps doing weird things around me. Onetime, we were in a nerd club at school and she broke out into spontaneous Japanese pop dancing right next to me. She also keeps giggling around me.
It's also not just her, but 4 other girls like her do the same thing. I know other non-American girls who don't do this. I've also only been at school for about a week now.
Do only Americans do this? What does it mean?
Thanks.

Hi, I teach at a high school in Australia. Teenage girls do all sorts of weird things. It just depends on the other girls in their group. Just smile.....

Maybe they just really like you. Sometimes people get excited to be around foreigners. It's usually not because of negative emotions. I get really excited when I meet foreigners anywhere because I feel self-conscious about how to act and I become really shy. It's like I'd like to speak to them but I don't want to be pushy. Some people, on the other hand, just become really openly interested. And they start acting like what they think they should act like in the foreigner's culture. These girls probably watch anime and stuff, and girls act cutesy in anime all the time, so maybe that's how they expect they should act around you. I don't think it should bother you though. Just smile. If they are doing it with good intentions, appreciate it. If they're doing it to embarrass you, it's not your problem, it's theirs, so just smile and let them act as they wish, unless they want to hurt you somehow.
Or they could just be the spontaneous and happy type. I know I would never start dancing around out of the blue, but I know people who are comfortable enough to do that. As Jura said, girls can act pretty weird sometimes. And especially if they are in a group, they sometimes like to have a certain air of "secrecy", so it seems like you're not in on whatever they are doing or thinking. haha gosh, I'm rambling. Sorry.

-I use to think, a long time ago, that foreigners had no emotions. Like I had a German substitute a few times that would never smile or anything. But that simply isn't true. It's what is called a "Stereotype". I'm sure you know what that is. Anyways, she probably likes you and you should have danced with her. Here in America, We overvalue the concept called "Fun". We definitely need to be more serious. That's besides the point, however.
