"Please put books in place when you finish." "Please put books in place when you finish." Is it right expression when you ask guests to return books in a book cafe? They should read them in the cafe. What is more proper expression?

Yes, that is correct. Or for something more proper I would say: "Can you please put the books back when you are done."
