I met a man named Ceniceros...
...which means "ashtrays" in my dictionary. I wouldn't expect that in a name.
Is there some other meaning of ceniceros that makes more sense as a name?
Señor Ceniceros told me that's what it means, also.It is his surname, or apellido.
Sometimes a name is shortened: A name like Fenstermacher (window maker) can become Fenster. It's easier to say, but makes less sense as a name.
Maybe his ancestors made ashtrays?

Maybe "Ceniceros" is not his first name, might be his "apellido" (apellido is like a last name but is about the name of his family for part of his father) Because in my country (México) some people call their friends by the "apellido" like - Hola Pérez ¿Cómo estás? (could be friends or just normal people)
Espero haberlo ayudado.

It does not mean anything more than "ashtrays".
I've never heard "Ceniceros" as a name, but it is actually a surname.
