malay usually don't say that. they usually say "apa khabar" everytime they meet or the muslim greeting of salam.. but the youngster nowadays , will mix malay and english and so use" wat's up" in their conversation.

also you could just simply say "Apa cerita?"...it has the same meaning as "What's up?"....

You can say 'Apa khabar/cerita terbaru?' That is if you are intended to know the current status of someone like.. What's going on?
