Of course. Anyone who thinks otherwise should not adopt. If one decides to adopt, he/she should treat the child as his/her own and that definitely means a lifetime of parenthood !

At least until the adopted child is grown and even after that it is commitment to act as any parent would to a grown child. I don't see why it should be any different that a child related by blood.

I think my two adopted daughters are my daughters, 'as long as we both shall live'. Step-daughters only belong in fairy tales, along with wicked step-mothers.
