Well, I can explain the second one. Pablo Picasso says that the world doesn't make sense, and as you know his pictures sometimes don't make sense, either. So, he asks: why had I to paint pictures which make sense? :)

I'd say that the first is very applicable to the interpersonal relations because we should find positive always qualities into the others!! :)

Salvador Dali was a bit eccentric, and often used to commit excesses, as in his work that was both realistic and surrealistic to the extreme. He received much criticism in his time for his personality and for what he said and did, perhaps with the intention of provoking or call attention, so he changed the usual phrase "lo importante es que hablen de ti, aunque sea MAL” for this another phrase “lo importante es que hablen de ti, aunque sea BIEN”.
Picasso mixing criticism of social and political power with criticism that sometimes his work received by the more orthodox. He also said a sentence saying: “Yo pinto lo que pienso, no lo que veo”.
