"snafu" means a state of confusion or chaos, a badly confused or ridiculously muddled situation.
example - Losing his passport snafued the whole vacation.
SNAFU (a military slang) stands for the "situation normal: all f**ked up". It means that the situation is bad, but that this is a normal state of affairs.
