Are there any different between "special" and "particular" ?

First off I think you want to say, "Are there any differences between..." or you can say, "Is there a difference between..." "Particular" is like "Specific" I think that is the word you were thinking of. If so they are both the same. If you do mean "Special" then it means that something is a big better or different than what is normal or usual. Check out these 3 links.
