损失 is a noun and a verb (intransitive and transitive)
亏 is a transitive/intransitive verb.
我们的损失太大。 Our losses are great
避免损失太多资源。To prevent waste of resources
好好做生意，别亏了。 Take good care of your business, don't lose money.
去年公司亏了500万美元。 The company had accumulated $ 5 million in deficits last year.
