Done ＝ 做完了 Finished = 完了

"Done" needs another word to function. Have done, be done, a done deal... "Finish" means to complete an action. If you want to compare it to "it is done", you need "it is finished". In this example they can have a close meaning, but "it is finished" clearly shows completion of the entire task or situation.
