Maybe, may-be, what ever it may be?
Is 'maybe' the same as 'may-be'? (Meaning: perhaps, possibly.)
What is the correct and preferred spelling? I was taught to write 'may-be' 30 years ago in high school I believe, since I have always written 'may-be'.

The correct spelling is ''maybe'', or sometimes ''may be'' depending on if you are using it as a verb or not, but ''may-be'' is never used. It is either one word or two, but never hyphenated.
