Yes, you understood it correctly. It's a command.
The phrase is "to go easy on (something)", which means to pay attention, be gentle and be careful in regards to handling something. Don't be too hard or excessive.
"I'll have a hot dog, and go easy on the mustard." (I'll just have a little mustard.)
"He came to work an hour late, but because he was the boss' cousin, the boss went easy on him." (The boss treated him a little more kindly instead of giving him the usual punishment.)
