how do you understand the meaning of 대개방 without knowing hanja? each one of the word comes from hanja. you don't need to learn the chinese writing but you need to understand the meaning within. if you don't learn the meaning of the word then your korean is only good up to intermediate level and you will not advance to the highest level ever.

If you want to study '한학', to read books from 조선시대, and to plan to study Japanese and Chinese, you should but, if not you don't have to.
