In "good readers and good writers" by Vladimir Nabokov Why author emphasizes that we should read using our spine? "The mind, the brain, the top of the tingling spine, is, or should be, the only instrument used upon a book. " " In order to bask in that magic a wise reader reads the book of genius not with his heart, not so much with his brain, but with his spine." How to understand these two sentences and the "spine"? 谢啦!!☆⌒(*^-゜)v

The tingling spine refers to the feeling you get when you are excited about something. It doesn't actually mean reading with your spine.
