Pronunciation: What is the diference into: "Where" an "were" Hello. Yesterday somebody asked me to pronounce the following sentence: "where were you yesterday?" I pronunced the two words ("where" and "were") identical but, I think that it's incorrect. How is the correct pronunciation?

The 'ere' in 'were' is pronounced like in 'her' or 'fur' (replacing the 'h' and 'f' with a 'w'). The 'ere' in 'where' is pronounced like in 'hair', 'fair', 'share', 'there' (replacing 'h', 'f', 'sh' and 'th' with a 'w').
