In this sentence 经 is short for 圣经, right? 经上= In the holy texts?

Yes,but in other sentences 经 may not means the Bible, in China there are many sorts of 经,for example,金刚经,般若波罗密多心经 ,and so on.

No, the apostle mentioned 经 is refers to The old testament. Precisely such as psalms or Isaial... There is no Bible in their times.

We Chinese always mention 四书五经，in there 五经 is made up of 《诗经》《尚书》《礼记》《周易》《春秋》.If we use 经 only，it will stands for 诗经【Shi Jing(Classic of Poetry)】.
But according you said “他的门徒就想起经上记着说 ，我为你的殿，心里焦急 ，如同火烧 ”，I judge that it is 圣经（BIBLE） in there.If you saw 门徒 in composition，it would must be 圣经（bible） or 可兰经（Koran） in common.Because only these 2 religious books have more payers.
