what does any given mean?
For example for the sentence like "any given tradition" what does "given" refer to here? I don't have a clear idea about what does it mean.

When "any given" is used, it means "any randomly selected" item that is being discussed. It does not matter which one is selected. The word "given" can be confusing here because it does not refer to anything being given.
For example - In any given tradition, you will see the mother passing it on to the children.
In the above example, you can look at any tradition, and will notice the same thing that is mentioned.
Another example - Any given Sunday, my mother will make eggs for breakfast.
In the above example, you can look at any Sunday, and will see the mother making eggs in the morning. It does not matter which Sunday you look at.
