In formal letters, what does 'after greetings or after compliments' mean ?
I guess 'after' means except, but I'm not sure.

etc.
Dear Mr Smith
It was very good to meet you yesterday and I enjoyed the meal very much. (Greetings/compliments)

Sorry - your question does not make sense. I cannot imagine where anyone would possibly use that phrase _in_ a formal letter.
As annette said - 'after' would never mean 'except'.
Is it possibly referring to _parts_ of a formal letter?
