'登録' means recording something such as membership in a book of an organisation or group, or recording the rights, qualifications etc in an official book.
'登記' has a similar meaning to the second meaning of '登録', but it is used only for the rights of land, buildings and ships, legal persons, trade names, etc in order to advertise private legal relationships.
